Collective diffusion on surface layers

All dynamic phenomena that happen in adatom surface layers at crystal surfaces are very important in catalysis, nanostructuring, chemical reactions, and many other physical processes. The surface mobility of particles depends on the surface structure and inter-particle interactions. We are studying the influence of both these factors onto the collective diffusion of the surface layers. We construct analytical models that allow us to calculate the diffusion coefficient in interacting lattice gas, and compare with numerical results of dynamical MC simulations. The change of diffusion coefficient with the surface phase transitions is of special interest. We study also cluster time dynamics in the ordered phases and related phenomena
