Light scattering by random media
Interaction of light with random media is one of the important research fields because of various possible applications to chemistry and even biology. A novel method of approach to these problems has been developed. Relations to the random matrix theory has been established and exploited. This gave connection with random processes in solid state physics, like the Anderson localization.
Quantum statistical properties of radiation
New measure of the statistical properties of the radiation field has been introduced. It has been called Wehrl entropy. Usefulness of this measure has been demonstrated on several physically relevant examples, like in the problem of phase operator in quantum optics. A new uncertainty relation between phase and amplitude of the electromagnetic field has been discussed.
